The Lucky Bastards are six babies who somehow keep winning at life — the perfect parking spot, extra fries, dessert on the house, the upgrade nobody asked for. They don't manifest harder. They don't wake up at 5 a.m. The universe just seems to like them.

Singapore has always been a place where people meet over food — different languages, different cultures, but always the same greeting: "Hi! Have you eaten?" Over generations, hawker centres became part of everyday life: breakfast before work, lunch with colleagues, family dinners, late-night suppers and the stalls people return to for years. The Makan Memories grew out of this world. Together they travel through Singapore collecting what they call Makan Memories — because people rarely remember only the food. They remember Mum ordering too much, Grandpa's favourite stall, the first meal after coming home, and the last "paiseh piece" nobody wants to claim.
The feelings we leave inside places
Long before Singapore became the city we recognise today, it was known as Temasek — an island by the sea where travellers, merchants and families crossed paths. Over generations the island changed: forests became neighbourhoods, boats became aeroplanes, small settlements became towers of glass and steel. But something remained. Every place began collecting the feelings of the people who passed through it, and from those feelings six little lions were born. Tesa remembers where we came from. Vanda remembers what we should never forget. Rimba protects what was here before us. Lumi imagines what could exist tomorrow. Aira remembers the people who make somewhere feel like home. And Astra reminds us to keep going forward. A garden is just a garden until someone creates a memory there. An airport is just a building until someone waits for you at arrivals. A skyline is just lights until you look at it and imagine your future. That's what the BabyLions protect — not places, but the feelings we leave inside them.
The people who make Singapore feel like Singapore
Sometimes Singapore looks like an uncle behind a hawker stall who already knows your order. An auntie making kopi faster than you can say it. The familiar bell of an ice cream cart downstairs. A karung guni uncle calling out from somewhere in the neighbourhood. And sometimes, it looks like a kid in school uniform carrying a bag that seems heavier than he is. Long before the skyscrapers, malls and airports, Singapore was built around ordinary people going about their everyday lives — among them the Samsui women in their red headscarves, who came from China in the early 20th century and took on gruelling construction work, becoming a symbol of the resilience behind Singapore's early development. Singa Faces are not kings, superheroes or famous people. Most don't appear on postcards. They're simply the faces that make a place feel familiar.
